The Grand Opening of OxVegas Chicken: A New Culinary Delight in Oxford

On January 20th, 2024, the vibrant community of Oxford welcomed a new eatery, OxVegas Chicken, at 48 E. Park Place Ave. This fast-casual restaurant initially specialized in chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, mac and cheese, and Texas toast. The menu later expanded to include beloved soft pretzel sticks and additional chicken styles, ensuring it filled a niche in the local dining scene for quality chicken-focused meals.

The journey to this grand opening began at Miami University's Startup Weekend in October 2021, where founders Jackson Trester and Tyler Storer first met. Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of the event, Jackson and Tyler decided to collaborate on their business idea. They spent countless hours brainstorming, ideating, and surveying Miami students and local residents to understand what the patrons of Oxford wanted in a dining experience.

After numerous attempts to secure funding, the breakthrough finally came in April 2023, just as they were on the verge of abandoning their business plan. This last-ditch effort brought in crucial investors who believed in their vision, allowing OxVegas Chicken to come to fruition.

Both Jackson and Tyler were students at the Farmer School of Business; Jackson graduated in May 2023 with a degree in Finance, while Tyler graduated in May 2024 with a degree in Supply Chain Management. Their complementary skills proved invaluable in developing their business model.

As OxVegas Chicken embarks on its journey, it stands as a testament to the power of student entrepreneurship and community support, aiming to leave a lasting impact on Oxford’s culinary landscape. Jackson and Tyler emphasized the importance of community feedback in shaping their menu and business model. They conducted numerous surveys and market analyses to ensure their offerings met local demand. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, with high hopes that OxVegas Chicken will become a staple of the Oxford dining scene, much like other beloved local spots.
